PPEU Athens 2013

Here you will find the first information for the European Pirates Conference in Athens on the 2nd-3rd November 2013. Please note that this Conference will be focused on discussing the European Pirate Party common programme.

Purpose

This PPEU conference aims at continuing the efforts to create a joint programme for the European Pirate Party, which is to be founded by March 2014.

Registration

To register for the Conference, just fill and submit the registration form.

Registration is open until 20th October 2013 (later registration cannot be guaranteed). Register every member of your Party who will come to the Confrence, not only official delegates.

Please note that due to space limitations, and to ensure representation from all pirate parties, preference will be given to official delegates.

Date and venue

The PPEU Conference of Athens will take place at PPGR's office, which is located at Vasilikis 6, (downtown) Athens (PC 10560), 1st floor, on the 2nd and 3rd of November, 2013.

The office can easily sit 20 participants. There are some alternatives in case that more people than that actually arrive.

It is equipped with a high-speed internet connection, coffee machines, a fridge, some computers, and other equipment for all our piratey needs.

How to get to Athens

By Train

There is currently no international passenger connection to/from Greece, sadly enough. However, domestic Intercity trains connect many major Greek cities, so you could combine the train with other means of transport. You can check the schedule and prices here.

The train station in Athens is called "Larissa Station". Conveniently located underneath it is a metro station bearing the same name.

(pro tip: There are some discount tickets for Athens-Thessaloniki and vice versa, each month, that become available around the 25th of the previous month. So keep your eyes open if you intend to use this route.)

By Bus

There are several international bus connections from several European countries to either Athens or Thessaloniki. You can find more details here.

If there's a connection only to Thessaloniki, you can come to Athens from there either by bus (Athens-Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki-Athens) or by train (see above). In any case, local pirates from Thessaloniki will be more than willing to help you finding your way around.

By Plane

By far the easiest way to come, is flying to Athens International Airport (ATH). From there, there are several ways (metro, railway, bus) to get to downtown Athens.

By Ferry

There are several ferries coming from various ports of Italy to either Igoumenitsa or Patra. From these cities, you can come to Athens by bus (KTEL).

Getting around while in Athens

Metro

By far the easiest way to get around in Athens is by the metro. The conference venue is located near Monastiraki Station (Μοναστηράκι) (blue and green line), basically a 5 minute walk from there (walking directions).

Local Buses

There are urban bus lines connecting virtually every part of the city, it's suburbs, and nearby towns [1]. A combination of buses and metro can typically take you from point A to point B quickly and efficiently.
